LOVE IS A SCAM 2 — OUT NOW

DARRELLJAVAN

Cinematic, vulnerable sonic pop out of Palm Coast, Florida. Three albums deep, one mission running under all of it.

About

The story so far

Darrell Javan Wells grew up in Atlanta without a blueprint — raised by a single mother, on his own by 16, working two jobs to afford a room on Daytona Beach before he ever touched a professional studio. He studied Audio Production at Full Sail University, spent his early twenties on the road as a freelance audio engineer, and built a life from nothing before ever chasing a stage.

What makes DARRELLJAVAN's music land is the same thing that got him through those years: an unwillingness to fake being okay. His songwriting doesn't resolve pain into easy positivity — it sits with it until it turns into understanding. That instinct traces back to his mother, who he calls "The Lemonade Maker" — a woman who turned relentless hardship into relentless optimism, not because it was easy, but because, in her words, she never had the luxury of falling apart.

"All proceeds go to breaking generational curses."

That line sits on every one of his releases — not a slogan, the actual mission. And nobody else built the machine that delivers it: DARRELLJAVAN writes, records, and self-produces the songs, designs the cover art and campaign visuals, codes and ships his own apps and web platforms (darrelljwells.com, the MyPod streaming player, this site's own sibling projects), and runs his own merch line — start to finish, no label, no outside team. Three albums deep, he's built more than a catalog — he's built the entire pipeline: a fully navigable self-coded artist world, a self-built digital jukebox, his own merch store, a weekly self-improvement podcast, and a real, current radio credit ("In A Dream," his first commercial spin, on KGNU).

Builds it all himself: self-produced music, self-designed cover art and visuals, self-coded apps and web platforms, self-run merch.

Influences: deliberately genre-blind — Sade, Luther Vandross, and George Benson sit next to Adele, Ed Sheeran, and Laufey, next to Future, Mac Miller, and Post Malone, next to Arctic Monkeys and Cigarettes After Sex. That same range is why the catalog itself refuses to sit in one lane.

Sync / Placement Pitch

Two Tracks, Ready to Place

One for the ache, one for the turnaround — a matched pair for a supervisor building out an emotional arc.

"PERFECT"

DARRELLJAVAN · from LOVE IS A SCAM 2 · Alt-Pop · 4:17

LOVE IS A SCAM 2 campaign art
Alt-Pop Cinematic Pop Emotional Vocal-Forward Sync-Ready

The emotional centerpiece of DARRELLJAVAN's current campaign — the moment the mask slips. Where the rest of the LOVE IS A SCAM 2 rollout leans danceable and direct, "PERFECT" is slower-burning and emotionally exposed: built for the scene where the performance of being okay finally cracks.

Placement fit: late-night confession scenes, the turn in a relationship arc, reflective montage — driving at night, packing up an apartment, the morning after a fight.

Comparable synced records: the emotionally blunt alt-pop that's landed in shows like Euphoria, The Summer I Turned Pretty, and Grey's Anatomy — vocal-forward, mid-tempo, built to sit under dialogue without fighting it.

Campaign tie-in: this is a live, currently-promoted single — a placement lands inside an active rollout, not a shelved catalog title.

Versions: instrumental / clean — confirm with artist before pitching.

"Prove Em Wrong"

DARRELLJAVAN · from LOVEISASCAM · Alt-Rock · 3:08

LOVEISASCAM album art
Alt-Rock Anthemic Underdog Driving Sync-Ready

The flip side of "PERFECT" — a defiance anthem, not a breakdown. Driving alt-rock energy built for the moment someone gets back up. Darrell's already built a live performance moment around this exact theme ("Expression Sessions Pt. 1 - Prove Them Wrong"), so a placement plugs into something already road-tested on stage.

Placement fit: training montage, comeback arc, underdog sports beats, credits-roll energy after a character wins something they weren't supposed to win.

Comparable synced records: the propulsive, chip-on-the-shoulder alt-rock/pop-rock that shows up in sports docs, trailers, and coming-of-age triumph scenes — built to lift, not linger.

Campaign tie-in: from LOVEISASCAM — the release that named the whole brand. Pairs naturally with "PERFECT" as a two-sided pitch.

Versions: instrumental / clean — confirm with artist before pitching.
